Descrição: Stampim' the future is the intriguing name given to an initiative of the United States Postal Service for the issue of a postage stamp on which the young can display their vision of the future.
The US Postal Service then involved another 30 countries in the project, inviting them to hold nationwide competitions for young people, exhibiting 4 or 5 short-listed designs at Philexfrance 99 but only revealing the winner during the UPU Congress held in Beijing in August 1999, turning the winning design into a postage stamp in 2000 in advance of the International Stamp Exhibition to be held next July in Anaheim, California.
In San Marino the competition saw the involvement of all secondary schools, with more than 600 designs, out of which the choice fell on the design produced by Laura Carattoni, a symbolic but attractive 2000 against the background of Mount Titano.
A design which is now to be transformed into a cheerful stamp that will take its place alongside the designs of her contemporaries from all parts of the world.
Altogether, as well as the United States and San marino, another 29 countries took part: Argentina, Aruba, Belgium, Brazil, Canada Chile, China, Columbia, the Faroe Islands, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jersey, Malta, Mexico, Panama, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Surinam, Switzerland, Uruguay and Venezuela.
